The core difference
An installed app runs on your system and often needs broad access. A browser tool runs in a sandboxed environment and only gets access to the folder you choose.
For privacy that matters a lot: with DupliFind no file leaves your computer, and you can verify it yourself in your network tab.
Side by side
| DupliFind (browser) | Installed app | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | Not needed | Download and install |
| Files to a server | Never, all local | Varies per app |
| Account | None | Often yes |
| Visually similar photos | Yes | Sometimes |
| Safe delete | Quarantine, one copy kept | Varies per app |
| Price | Free scan, €4.99 to clean | Often €20 to €60 |
When to choose what
If you want to install nothing, keep your files local and just quickly see what is duplicate, the browser approach is ideal. If you work in Safari or Firefox, or want a real app, a native Mac app is coming for that.
